Heroes that deal a lot of magic damage are nukers, heroes that kill towers(turrets) are pushers, heroes that don't die easily are durable or escape, etc. These are the official roles, visible in the game client. The last categorization pertains to what they do. Examples include Crystal Maiden, Lich, and Lion. They don't really need much of anything to be effective. Examples include Enigma, Clockwerk, and Visage. These are heroes that don't need much farm to be effective but still require some. Examples include Tidehunter, Timbersaw, and Broodmother. They are often tanky or have a strong escape as they generally lane against a defensive trilane. Offlaners are heroes that solo the sidelanes. Examples of heroes that commonly fit this role include Lycan, Queen of Pain, and Shadow Fiend. The equivalent is probably mage, or assassin, although I'm not completely sure. Semi carries generally need quite a bit of gold and a lot of experience. Some examples of heroes that commonly fit this role are Medusa, Spectre, and Faceless Void. These are the ADCs, they need a lot of gold and don't really do anything without gold. There are 5 farm different farm priorities in Dota2, called positions: A core is the hero that take the last hits(minion kills, cs) in a lane. Here we have three types of categorizations:įirst, whether a hero is a core or not a core. This happens especially in a defensive trilane to ensure all three heroes have some gold and experience. The support at safelane may 'pull' a jungle camp and use their creep(minion) wave to help kill it, and the support takes the gold and experience for the neutrals in the camp. The support might take a last hit every couple waves or so, some or all of the kills, but otherwise it goes to the carry. When it comes to dual lane, generally you give most of the farm to the carry. 1 offlaner at hardlane, 1 semicarry at mid, 1 carry and 1 support at safelane, and 1 jungler in the, well, jungle. Purpose is to stop the enemy defensive trilane from farming. Sort of the same thing, just with 3 at hardlane but with an early game carry rather than a late game one. 1 offlaner at hardlane, 1 semicarry at mid, 1 hard carry, 1 hard support and 1 semi support at bottom. 1 semicarry at mid, 1 carry at hardlane, 1 at safelane. Originally posted by Drewmo:By the way, this is a little off topic from the original questions, but since champions roles are less defined here, what is the proper etitquette in a dual-hero lane when it comes to farm and hero kills? Should they be shared evenly, should most go to one hero, or should one hero try to let their partner get everything? Generally you have one of four lane setups: That being in mind, would you have any recommendations on where to start (so far the Disruptor is the only one I've really liked, but I have a lot more to try). Above all, I like champions with interesting or unique abilities and good kit synergy (I was looking at tanky supports and tried Wraith King, but was bored by his single activated ability). ![]() If I'm not supporting, I enjoy either playing tanks and initiators, or mobile assassin type characters who can split push well or make surgical strikes against high threats on the enemy team, or who have a lot of potential for out-playing opponents in a fight. I enjoy characters who may not deal a lot of damage, but can place enemies out of positions or otherwise set up good plays for their team, and especially those that can deny kills. I usually like to play support or tanks, or tanky support. Thresh, Tahm Kench, Shen, new Taric, Fiora, Zed, Bard, Braum That in mind, who would you recommend learning if my favorite LoL champs include. ![]() I'm not expecting to find a copy of my favorite LoL champions, but rather find some heroes who might fill similar roles on a team, or affect the game in ways I've come to enjoy. Let me begin by saying that I understand that there are a myriad of differences between the two games. Since I can't play on my LoL account from China, I'm trying to get into DOTA2.
